NS Shipper News, 11/18:

Buffalo, NY Facility Closure Due to Winter Storm

A travel ban has been imposed on the Buffalo, NY area due to a winter storm impacting the region. As a result, the Norfolk Southern Buffalo Intermodal Facility will be closing effective at 4:00pm today.

The weather is also affecting train operations throughout the Buffalo area. All customer freight enroute from Chicago, IL to Buffalo will be delayed. In addition, any traffic that ingated at Buffalo today will be held on the terminal until the facility re-opens and train operations resume. The storm is predicted to remain over the area through Wednesday November 19th.

We will provide further updates once the travel ban is lifted and we determine it is safe to re-open the facility.

NS Service Alert, 11/19:

Service Alert – Extreme Lake Effect Snow in Buffalo Area

Norfolk Southern operations have been impacted by extreme lake effect snow in the Buffalo, NY area. Record setting snowfall, road conditions, and road closures have curtailed Norfolk Southern operations in and around the Buffalo area. Customers with rail traffic destined to or originating in the Buffalo area will see a disruption of service over the next few days. Shipments normally moving through western New York will be detoured over other routes, likely resulting in additional transit time with 24-48 hour delays.
