For immediate release: January 29, 2021Metro announces service changes Sunday due to winter storm
Metro today announced service changes in advance of a winter storm forecast to affect the region on Sunday. Beginning Sunday morning, Metrobus will operate on a moderate snow service plan and scheduled work at Addison Rd., Arlington Cemetery, and on the Yellow Line bridge will be suspended. In addition, Metro will deploy resources and equipment to keep the tracks clear of snow and ice and treat station platforms, walkways and parking lots for customers.

Metrorail
- Metrorail will open at 8 a.m. with trains running on a normal weekend schedule. Trains can operate very close to a normal schedule in snowfall of up to six inches.

- Minor delays may be possible due to de-icer trains running between passenger trains throughout the system.
- Additional crews are being brought in to clear station platforms, walkways, and parking areas.
- The upper levels of Metro parking garages may be closed due to snow accumulation.
- Scheduled track work on the Yellow Line with single tracking between Pentagon and L'Enfant Plaza will be suspended Sunday. Normal two-track service will operate across the Yellow Line Bridge.
- Blue Line service will operate between Huntington and Largo Town Center. Addison Rd and Arlington Cemetery stations will be open, and scheduled track work canceled.
- Due to power system upgrades, Franconia-Springfield and Van Dorn St. stations will be closed on Sunday. Free shuttle buses will be provided between Franconia-Springfield, Van Dorn St., and Eisenhower Ave. Previously announced express shuttles between Franconia-Springfield and Pentagon stations have been canceled due to the weather.
