WTEN-TV, Channel 10 in Albany, NY, 9/3/21:

Amtrak still out of service between Albany and New York City

Amtrak announced that Empire Service and Ethan Allen Express trains remain canceled between Albany and New York City on Friday. It is unknown at this time if these services will be available by Saturday.

Story is here.

The Albany-New York segment is still out all day Friday.    Still running were the Ethan Allen Express between Albany and Rutland, the Niagara Falls (280-series) Empire Service trains between Albany and Niagara Falls, and the Maple Leaf between Albany and Niagara Falls.    The Lake Shore Limited did not run on its New York section, but the Boston section across Massachusetts did operate on Friday.

Reason:   Somewhere in Metro North territory, there is a 10-foot pile of mud fouling the tracks.
