Well I've heard from all known participants today, so everyone is set to ride the rails on Friday and Saturday. Michael and I had a horrible trip up here --- not so much the ride, but the lack of parking at Metropark. I had to drive up to Weehawken and park at my garage at work, jump on a ferry, take a shuttle bus to 42nd and 8th, and then we ran down 8th Avenue to Penn Station just barely making the same train. We bought most of our tickets at South Station, and found the machines to be tedious as they only allow two tickets at once (which you can cut in half by ordering two round trips). Thanks Jack for warning us. And they only allow 2 or 3 hits on each credit card, so come with plastic! There are humans that can sell the tickets too..... We've found out that the interzone tickets (the ones involving Whitman for Saturday) must be bought from the human ticket agent. For those in town for the fest, see you in the morning...... and for others there is still time to join us! :)

Day One of our fest is complete. We had a couple of mishaps, with 2 participants delayed an hour coming in on the Lowell Line and thus missing the Stoughton Line turn with the group, and another taking the wrong train at Back Bay Station and also thus missing the Stoughton Line turn. Other than that, things went according to plan, save for some minor delays on account of signal failures near the city. Also Lyle McBride, not originally on the participant list, joined us for a short round trip between Attleboro and Providence, and lunch at Providence Place. Anyway we accomplished riding the Stoughton Line, Providence Line, and Middleboro/Lakeville today. Tomorrow we go to Greenbush, Cordage/Plymouth, and Kingston/Route 3, and then we will do a little Green Line riding out to Boston College and Lechmere. We most likely will scrub Saturday dinner at Cambridgeside Galleria since a few of us need to return to take Amtrak home, and others have made other dinner plans. Meanwhile, the revolving door turns. Bill A. (Friday only) headed home on Acela 2173, while Jishnu (Saturday only) traveled Acela 2166 and arrived in Boston tonight. They passed somewhere in Connecticut. Bill M. get ready for a bunch of late season mileage !!!

The second and final day of the Boston "T" Party 2007 Railfest is over. Ten of us completed all of the Old Colony Lines, including Greenbush, and then we ended the day in streetcar style on the Green Line, out to Boston College and up to Lechmere. By now many participants including myself are home, but a few are still in Boston and I believe some of them are planning to spend Sunday riding out to Rockport and back. Naturally in time there will be a more detailed version what took place in Boston over the past couple of days. Thanks to everyone who attended. Despite the cold weather it was great to see everyone again and have fun doing what we do best. :D
