Dear MARC Rider:

With the latest forecast for Hurricane Isabel indicating that the storm will arrive earlier on Thursday, Federal and State Governments are urging everyone to stay home. As a result the Federal Government has announced that it will be closed tomorrow. Accordingly MARC has decided that there will be no service tomorrow (Thursday September 18, 2003).

At this time no decision has been made concerning service for Friday. MARC in coordination with Amtrak and CSX will monitor the storm and announcements on Government closings for Friday and will update you via our email notification system and website www.mtamaryland.com on the decision for Friday.

Sincerely

MARC Train Service

MARCs's earlier e-mail sent at 5:03 p.m.:

Dear MARC Riders:

Due to the pending arrival of Hurricane Isabel, MARC will be making
modifications to its service for tomorrow (Thursday - September 18, 2003).

Penn Line
The Penn Line will run a normal schedule in the morning with the
exception of Train #408 the 8:10 AM departure from Washington to Baltimore that
has been cancelled. Afternoon trains will run as scheduled until 4:24 p.m. At
that time, service will be stopped. In addition:
Northbound trains:
Train 420—
A 1:20 p.m. departure from Union Station will go to Perryville (originally would
stop at Penn Station).
Train 424—A 3:34 p.m. departure from Union Station will go on to Perryville
(originally would stop at Penn Station).
Train 528—A 4:24 p.m. departure from
Union Station to Perryville. (THIS WILL BE THE LAST TRAIN OUT OF WASHINGTON,
DC)
Southbound:
Train 429—A 2:40 p.m. from Penn Station to Union Station —(THIS
WILL BE THE LAST TRAIN SOUTHBOUND)

Camden Line
The Camden Line will run normal morning service. MARC will run
special, early afternoon service on the Camden Line.
Northbound:
1 p.m. from Union Station to Camden Station.
2 p.m. from Union
Station to Camden Station
4 p.m. from Union Station to Camden Station.

Southbound: The only southbound, afternoon train on the Camden Line will be:
2
p.m from Camden Station to Union Station

Brunswick Line
The Brunswick Line will run normal morning service. MARC will run special,
afternoon service on the Brunswick Line.
Noon train from Union Station to Brunswick
1 p.m. train from Union Station to Brunswick
1:45 p.m. train from Union Station
to Martinsburg
2 p.m. train from Union Station to Frederick
3:35 p.m. train from
Union Station to Martinsburg
4 p.m. train from Union Station to Frederick
4:25
p.m. train from Union Station to Brunswick

PLEASE NOTE that if there is an announcement by the Federal Government tonight
that the Government is shutdown tomorrow, MARC will not run any train service on
Thursday September 18, 2003.

Please continue to monitor our website www.mtamaryland.com and look for email
notifications for updates to the service as changes in the weather may warrant
further alterations to the schedule. No decision has been made on service for
Friday since we plan to assess the impact of the storm before making a decision.
However, Brunswick Line riders should note that we are moving all our equipment
that is normally stored in Brunswick to Frederick due to the high likelihood of
flooding along the Potomac River. Consequently this will impact any potential
service that we may operate out of Martinsburg and Frederick on Friday.

Sincerely

MARC Train Service
