Weekend service adjustments Sat. Nov. 25 & Sun. Nov. 26

 

Advisory Effective: 11/20/17 - 11/26/17

 

Here is a summary of Metrorail service changes on Saturday, November 25, and Sunday, November 26, to allow for safety and reliability maintenance work:

 

Highlights

  • Regular weekend service on Orange, Silver, Blue, Yellow and Green lines
  • Free shuttle buses replace Red Line trains between Fort Totten and Silver Spring

 

Red Line
Buses replace trains between Fort Totten & Silver Spring

Red Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals (12-15 minutes) between Shady Grove & Fort Totten and between Silver Spring & Glenmont. Additional trains will operate between Shady Grove and NoMa-Gallaudet 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Free shuttle buses will operate between Fort Totten, Takoma and Silver Spring. Please allow 10 minutes of travel time for each station stop.

To allow for shuttle bus connections, the last trains will depart:

Shady Grove at 12:25 a.m. Saturday and 10:25 p.m. Sunday (Regular time).
Glenmont at 12:08 a.m. Saturday and 10:08 p.m. Sunday (25 minutes earlier than normal).
 

Work performed: Rail tie and grout pad renewal, joint elimination and switch replacement.

 

Tap your SmarTrip card each time you enter and exit the Metrorail system. Riders traveling through the work zone will be charged for a single, continuous trip.

Travel Tips

Metrobus service may provide an alternate travel option for some riders. To check, plan your trip using Trip Planner and select the bus only option.

 

Before traveling, consult the trip planner at wmata.com to check the special schedule and reduce your wait time. Trip Planner is updated to reflect weekend rebuilding schedules on Fridays; please check on Friday afternoon or later.
