Representatives from transit agencies in other major cities shared how rapid transit buses helped them improve service, increase ridership and attract redevelopment. Creating a regional agency to operate the system would force coordination and efficiency on overlapping city and suburban bus providers.http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/MetroMagazine-IndustryNews/~4/cedYB1m8qV0View the full article

Who proclaimed these people experts? It looks to me like they want to use BRT not only as a substitute for the now dormant Woodward light rail, but also the proposed commuter rail between Detroit and Ann Arbor. And that's not good. I'm all in favor of a regional oversight agency, an RTA, as Detroit has suffered for years with separate city and suburban bus companies. But to totally ignore light rail and commuter rail solutions is not the answer to the problem. Just because the visiting transit agencies happened to have BRT does not mean it could have and should have been LRT. Shame on the reps from Cleveland and L.A. whose cities DO have light rail. Or did you forget?
