    Northstar rail runs into trouble in Anoka County  

 

 

As the COVID-19 pandemic approaches its second anniversary, a disagreement over finances has flared up between the Metropolitan Council and Anoka County, which has balked at paying some of Northstar commuter rail's operating expenses due to the line's plunging ridership.

Minneapolis Metro Transit logs 21% ridership increase in Q1

 

Minneapolis' Metro Transit reported a nearly 21% ridership increase in first-quarter 2023 compared with ridership levels in Q1 2022.

On the light-rail Green and Blue lines, Metro Transit recorded more than 3.4 million rides in Q1 2023, up 26% year over year.
