9/21, 2:27 p.m.:

CSX has completed removal of all trees and restored signal power on the Brunswick Line. Fortunately the Potomac did not flood to levels which will affect train service. As a result Brunswick Line service will resume on a regular schedule on Monday.

Storm damage continues to affect operations on the "Old Main Line" from Frederick through Mt. Airy to Baltimore and on CSX's lines between Washington, Richmond and Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Although MARC trains do not operate over these lines, additional freight train congestion may occur as a result of the inability to operate freight trains on normal schedules on these lines.

In addition some public address systems may not be operational due to storm damage or power outages. Our maintenance staff will be working to correct these problems. Information on train delays, if any, can be obtained from staffed stations at Martinsburg, Brunswick, Germantown, Gaithersburg, Laurel, Savage and Dorsey. Telephone numbers for these stations are available in the MARC Riders Guide or on the web site. We appreciate your patience in the aftermath of this major storm.
