Weather - New Orleans Closing Due to Hurricane Ivan
Due to the approach of hurricane Ivan towards the mainland area, BNSF facilities in the New Orleans, Louisiana area will close at 12:00 noon Central Time, Tuesday, September 14, 2004.
The earliest estimated time for the reopening of BNSF facilities is 7:00 a.m. Central Time, Friday, September 17, 2004. The effects of the storm will determine the actual date and time of service restoration. BNSF will ensure normal operations are resumed in an expedient manner when it is possible to do so.
Updates will be provided as conditions change. Traffic moving to or from New Orleans, Louisiana for interchange will be held until safe operating conditions can resume.

Embargo - CSXT Embargo on New Orleans, Louisiana and Mobile, Alabama
Due to the imminent arrival of Hurricane Ivan, voluntary evacuations have been ordered in the areas around CSX terminals in New Orleans, La. and Mobile, Ala. Inbound and outbound gates at both locations have been closed, due to the associated high winds and rains that are expected to affect operations.
In addition, service between New Orleans and Florida will be curtailed until the storm has passed and any damage has been repaired. Interline traffic at New Orleans will be held until operations are restored.
Exceptions to this embargo include Industrial Products commodities of bricks (STCC 3251115 and 3251135), building products (STCC 2661220), boards (STCC 2499610 and 2499615) and lumber (STCC 2421184).
Effective immediately, except where noted by exception, BNSF will not accept any freight for CSX destined to New Orleans or Florida locations operating through this gateway.
