NO REGULAR SERVICE ON THE GLADSTONE BRANCH DUE TO EMERGENCY REPAIR WORK
 

 

NEWARK, NJ — NJ TRANSIT’s regular Gladstone Branch rail service along the Morris & Essex Lines is temporarily suspended until further notice due to emergency repair work. Customers should check njtransit.com for updated information. Customers also should listen for station announcements for alternate train service.

 

NJ TRANSIT rail tickets and passes are being cross-honored on Lakeland buses from the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

 

NJ TRANSIT will operate substitute bus service between Summit and New Providence as well as direct service between Summit and Berkeley Heights stations. For customers travelling to points west of Berkeley Heights, direct bus service also will be provided between Summit and Murray Hill, where customers will board a shuttle train making all local stops to Gladstone.

 

Eastbound Gladstone customers are advised to seek alternate travel options.

 

In addition, there will be NO service from Hoboken Terminal to Gladstone beginning at 10 p.m. tonight.

 

The following trains that were scheduled to leave Hoboken are cancelled. Customers boarding alternate trains will travel to Summit where they will connect with bus service to points west:

 

475 (3:29 p.m.) --- customers to 853 (3:55 p.m.)

427 (4:25 p.m.) --- customers to 643 (4:33 p.m.)

429 (5:01 p.m.) --- customers to 333 (5:04 p.m.)

433 (5:36 p.m.) --- customers to 337 (5:39 p.m.)

435/467 (6:04 p.m./6:07 p.m.) --- customers to 813 (6:34 p.m.)

439/441 (6:41 p.m./7:09 p.m.) --- customers to 341 departs on 441 time (7:09 p.m.)

443/447 (7:44 p.m./8:44 p.m.) customers to 1087 (8:58 p.m.) to Broad Street  for transfer to 6675 (10:10 p.m.)

449 (9:44 p.m.) customers to 1061 (10:04 p.m.) to Broad Street for transfer to 6677 (10:32 p.m.)

451/453 (10:49 p.m./11:54 p.m.) --- shuttle to Broad Street for transfer to 6683 (12:21 a.m.)

 

MidTOWN Direct trains 6431 (the 5:19 p.m. departure out of Penn Station New York) and train 6437 (the 6:05 p.m. out of Penn Station New York) will be cancelled at Summit Train Station where substitute bus service is being provided.

Pieces of a concrete hit two commuter trains on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning which caused NJ Transit officials to temporarily close down part of the Gladstone Branch for emergency repairs this evening.

 

Gladstone branch service remains temporarily suspended until further notice, due to emergency repair work on the wall near Summit station, NJ Transit officials said.  .  .  .

NJ Transit officials suspended Gladstone Branch Line rail service in both directions between Murray Hill and Summit Wednesday afternoon, so crews could repair a retaining wall along the tracks, Snyder said.

NEWARK, NJ — NJ TRANSIT’s Gladstone Branch rail service along the Morris & Essex Lines remains suspended for the morning rush on Thursday, September 21 until further notice due to emergency repair work.

 

NJ TRANSIT rail tickets and passes are being cross-honored on Lakeland buses to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Note that there will be limited seats available on the buses.

 

Customers may also drive to Denville where they can board Morris & Essex Lines trains; drive to Bridgewater or Somerville to board Raritan Valley Line trains; or drive to Newark Penn Station to board trains to Penn Station New York.

NEWARK, NJ — NJ TRANSIT’s Gladstone Branch rail service along the Morris & Essex Lines will resume full regularly schedule service beginning at approximately 12:30 this afternoon following emergency repair work.

 

The P.M. peak period ride home will have full regularly scheduled service originating in Penn Station New York and Hoboken making all scheduled stops.

 

The first trains to operate on the Gladstone Branch are the following:

 

Westbound

 

  • Train #419, the 12:36 p.m. departure from Hoboken to Gladstone.

 

Eastbound

 

  • Train #424, the 12:53 p.m. departure from Gladstone to Hoboken.

 

NJ TRANSIT rail tickets and passes will continue to be cross-honored on Lakeland buses, including from the Port Authority Bus Terminal, for the remainder of the service day. Note that there will be limited seats available on the buses.
