“The Baldwin Locomotive Works and its Connection with the Pennsylvania Railroad” will be the topic of an illustrated talk by Albert Giannantonio to Harrisburg Chapter National Railway Historical Society on December 12 at Hoss’s Restaurant, 743 Wertzville Rd., Enola, PA. Business meeting and speaker begin at 7 pm, with a meal available as early as 5 pm. Dinner and meeting are open to the public.
A resident of West Chester, PA and a retired civil engineer, Giannantonio formerly worked in the Production Planning Department for America’s one-time leading locomotive builder, The Baldwin Lima Hamilton Corporation, formerly The Baldwin Locomotive Works of Eddystone, PA. He served as President of the Board of Directors of Friends of the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg, PA from 2012 to 2015 and President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Pennsylvania Railroad Technical & Historical Society from 2001 to 2008.
Harrisburg Chapter, one of over 135 chapters of the National Railway Historical Society, is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to studying railroad history and preserving significant local railroad artifacts. Major projects include: maintaining Pennsylvania’s official electric locomotive (GG-1 # 4859), and preserving and operating Harris Tower, a National Register of Historic Places structure.
