Since Amtrak Guest Rewards is no longer worthwhile for those taking a lot of short trips, I've not been traveling as much. Especially during double points periods I took trips just to earn points; I no longer do that. With the former program, I earned 1,000 points for a round trip from Stockton to San Francisco. With the current program, I earn 56 points.

The new AGR sure put a crimp on the multiple, short trip numbers. We have over 300 fewer segments this year than we had in the same period last year. At least you still end up in San Francisco. That makes it worth your while. My occasional short trip lands me in Harrisburg. There's no confusing Harrisburg and San Francisco.
