In training for the Las Vegas Raiders.
The platform at the Las Vegas Monorail station at SLS Casino is practically empty around 11 a.m. on a blistering hot June day, the thermostat reaching above 110.
The next train arrives and a handful of tourists step aboard the air-conditioned car for the $5 ride. The train snakes behind the famed buildings of the Strip, passing Wynn, Venetian, Flamingo and other casino resorts before arriving at the final station at MGM Grand.

Poor planning hampered monorail ridership. The convoluted routing plus the absence of a connection to the airport makes the service less attractive than bus or Uber.
Note the cockamamie XpressWest plan is still on life-support. I don't see how that business model will work since development rights along right-of-way would be difficult to obtain. Far better, as members of this board know, would be to get Uncle Pete (Union Pacific) to allow parallel trackage for higher speed rail to Fullerton. Cost would certainly be much less than $8 billion.
