Bravo to MNRR for such fast work! I hope that sets an example for the proposed Lackawanna Cutoff so trains can roll into Scranton sooner than later.

Yesterday, MTA Metro-North Railroad announced plans to resume full service on the Port Jervis Line Nov. 28 — a month ahead of the previously scheduled timeline.

Port Jervis Line To Resume Service On Monday
The Metro-North Railroad says service is resuming along the Port Jervis line as it continues to repair damage from Hurricane Irene.
“We will return to providing a full schedule of 26 daily trains and 14 trains each weekend day,” Metro-North announced.

Three months after Tropical Storm Irene dismantled 14 miles of the Port Jervis train line, turning parts of the tracks traversing Orange and Rockland Counties into mangled piles of debris, Metro-North Railroad officials restored service on Monday, one month ahead of schedule.

Thanks to an extraordinary rebuilding effort by Metro-North's employees, full train service resumed on the Port Jervis Line on Monday, Nov. 28 — one full month earlier and at a substantially lower cost than originally expected.
