The New Trail to Work: Longer and More Inventive, Complicated and Crowded

On a normal day, Diana Rivas is too young, urban and hip to be caught riding something so square as the Long Island Rail Road. But yesterday, on the second day of the first New York City transit strike in a quarter-century, Ms. Rivas and tens of thousands of other New Yorkers grudgingly rode the suburban rails.
