What’s in a name: Newscasters struggle with ‘Acela’ Primary

WASHINGTON, D.C. — During the media coverage that surrounded what was dubbed the “Acela Primary,” several television news correspondents struggled to properly pronounce the name of Amtrak’s high-speed passenger service that serves the Northeast Corridor. On its blog, Amtrak shares a video of 14 newscasters struggling to say “Acela.” For the record, it’s “A-SEL-A”, which is a combination of the words acceleration and excellence.
