This thread for reports about the first day of the NYMARF event, Saturday March 23.

So far, there are 5 of us.  We met in the New York City Club Acela, and are currently on Empire Service #281, which left New York on time.   4 in Business, 1 in Coach.   Weather is windy but comfortable, but anticipating colder when we get upstate.

We continue to proceed slowly across New York State. We were stopped for a bit between Croton Harmon and Poughkeepsie to allow one Metro North train and one freight train to pass where there was some single tracking going on.   We were about 20 minutes late at Albany, where some of us stepped off the train to bone chilling temperatures.  This update has us between Amsterdam and Utica, where we are now projected to be about 33 minutes late.  There is a  lot of opposing freight traffic along the way.

Further delay before Utica as a broken switch forced us onto a siding track which did not allow us proceed at running speed. We were a little over an hour late at Utica & Syracuse.

281 arrived into Rochester at 6:00 PM... 1 hr 1 min down. Station very nice but we'll examine it more in the morning. All 5 of us shared Uber to hotel. Dinner at Drifters restaurant within our Hilton Garden Inn.
