Union Pacific Railroad: 23 rail cars derail in Belle Plaine

 

BELLE PLAINE (KWWL) - UPDATE: A Union Pacific spokesman says 23 rail cars derailed just before 11:30 p.m. Friday in Belle Plaine.

Mark Davis with the Union Pacific Railroad says the train was traveling from North Platte, Nebraska to Chicago, with 125 rail cars.

One track reopen after Belle Plaine derailment

 

BELLE PLAINE — One track at the scene of a train derailment Friday is back open.

 

Mark Davis with Union Pacific Railroad says the track was opened at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, about 35 hours after 23 of a 125-car train heading from Nebraska to Illinois derailed late Friday night.
