As always I thank everyone for coming out and having a great time on the rails. We conquered the New York City subway system on Friday evening and Saturday, and rode NJT Newark LRT and two NJT Hoboken Division lines on Sunday.

Tonight was my web housekeeping night. The OTOL BARF 2008 home page has been revised into the past tense.

The Itinerary has been revised. For the first time, since we never deviated from our plans, rather than creating a separate "Actual Itinerary", I put the actual times in a new column on the existing Itinerary page. The times on the left are the planned times as of before the fest, and the ones on the right as what actually happened. As you'll see, everything is pretty close to schedule. For the end of the fest on Sunday, the items highlighted in light yellow are for the 7 people who changed at Secaucus to go to New York Penn Station. For the other 5 who continued on the Pascack Valley train to Hoboken, that arrival time is there too, without the yellow background.

The Fest Scorecard feature has also been updated. We essentially completed the New York City subway system, reflected here: http://pages.prodigy...tin/invnyct.htm . We added the Newark LRT branch to Broad Street Station, which you can see in this chart. And the two NJT commuter lines (one of which becomes Metro North in New York State) we rode on Sunday are marked as completed here and here.

We missed some of our regulars at this event, but please know that you were thought of and talked about (in a good way! :) ) .

The majority of the Saturday group had dinner together at TGI Friday's at New York Penn Station. It appeared that most of the group had pizza on Saturday afternoon in Grand Central Terminal, and Sunday afternoon in Hoboken Terminal.

The gang did briefly discuss our summer trip to Florida. While it has not yet officially been ruled out, the general feeling seems to be that nobody would be heartbroken if we skipped Jacksonville and just went home. We discussed possibly altering dates or the order in which the cities are visited, but we still are running into expensive hotel rooms in two cities, even if they were available. There would still be plenty to do in Tampa and the Miami area.

At any rate, I know it was tough walking and standing in such cold, windy weather. Hopefully we won't be paying for it later this week.

I also want to wish the best of health to David Korkhouse; we're all hoping you are OK and that you made it back to Indiana on the Lake Shore Limited all right. We missed having David and Don along on Sunday.

As a reminder, anyone who took Amtrak trains to or from the Fest (and is an OTOL board member) should report them on the board to Bill Magee for inclusion in our 2008 mileage tally.

The Fest History page has now also been updated to include our activities of this past weekend.

I must say that we ended up quite lucky that our subway plans were not affected this time around.

This weekend following the Fest, we have the C line out of service, with the A running local its entire route. That round trip through Brooklyn and Queens would have taken a lot longer than it did, making all those stops. Also, the A in one direction is running via the F line in lower Manhattan and Brooklyn.
