Metro Magazine, June 2017 online:

Florida's Brightline to Boost Intercity Train Travel

The first phase of the express passenger rail service, costing more than $1 billion, will connect the region's main Central Business Districts of Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and

West Palm Beach, while Phase 2 will connect Orlando.

Commended reading.  An excellent discussion of the business analysis leading to building the Brightline with private funding.

What we are hearing locally here in the Space Coast is that the station site selection is proceeding well. Most likely site is a location in Rockledge/Cocoa. During initial Phase II construction provisions will be made for the station, but the actual station will be constructed and put into service after Phase II service commences. No real official word yet, but negotiations and preliminary work is ongoing. This station will serve the Titusville-Melbourne-Palm Bay Metropolitan Area. The location is a bit less than 20 miles from where I live.
