MTA Announces Service Plans for Presidents’ Day
Most Services to Operate on Saturday Schedules
 

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today offered details about service for Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 15, and for the long holiday weekend that begins on Friday, February 12.

 

New York City Subways and Buses

On Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 15, New York City subways and buses will operate on a Saturday schedule with some planned subway service changes:

   

    2 Line trains operate in two sections: Between Flatbush Av and E 180 St, then via the 5 Line to/from Dyre Av, and between E 180 St and Wakefield-241 St.

 

    3 Line trains are suspended between Harlem-148 St and 96 St. Take the 2 Line and free shuttle buses instead.

 

    Bronx-bound 6 Line trains run express from Grand Central-42 St to 125 St.

 

     A Line trains are suspended in both directions between Euclid Av and Lefferts Blvd. Shuttle buses operate between Euclid Av and Lefferts Blvd making all station stops.

 

    Brooklyn-bound F Line trains run skip 169 St.

 

    Brooklyn-bound F Line trains run via the E Line from Roosevelt Av to W 4 St-Wash Sq.

 

    Q Line trains are suspended between 57 St-7 Av and Kings Hwy. Free shuttle buses operate between Kings Hwy and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.

 

    J Line trains are suspended in both directions between Hewes St and Broad St. Take 4 Line; 6 Line; F Line trains and free shuttle buses. Free shuttle buses operate between Hewes St and Essex St.

 

Long Island Rail Road

On Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 15, the Long Island Rail Road will operate on a Holiday schedule with one extra westbound train departing Ronkonkoma at 7:10 a.m. and arriving at Penn Station at 8:31 a.m.

 

Because trains will operate on a holiday schedule, there will be no service east of Ronkonkoma.

 

Off peak fares will be in effect all day.

 

Metro-North Railroad

On Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 15, MTA Metro-North Railroad will operate on a Saturday schedule with some extra cars on trains AM inbound and PM outbound hours to accommodate those people who have to work.

 

The Hudson Rail Link connecting bus service, the Newburgh-Beacon Ferry and the Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry will not operate.

 

The north end exits to Grand Central at 46th-47th-48th Streets will be closed.

 

Off-peak fares are in effect all day.

 

Staten Island Railway

On Friday, February 12, the Staten Island Railway will operate on an early evening rush hour schedule beginning at 2:30 p.m. to help folks get a jump start on the long weekend. On Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 15, the Staten Island Railway will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Most Services to Operate on Saturday Schedules

 

Note: This is a revised version of previous press release incorporating changes to Line service. Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) trains and buses will operate on special schedules in observance of Presidents’ Day on Monday.

 

New York City Lines and Buses
