As most of you are aware if you have looked elsewhere on this board, the venue of the Fest for the Summer of 2016 will be three cities along the West Coast. Besides the 3 cities we visit, Amtrak trains will figure heavily into the experience as well. Before I can officially announce such a large undertaking and create the necessary web pages, a name needs to be given to the journey so that I don't have the job of changing things later on.
So I thought it would be fun to try and come up with a name together. I will give the list I have thought of so far, and you can add your suggestions, as well as your feelings about mine.
1. The obvious name would be West Coast RailFest. We are truly covering most of the west coast of the country. However, I am against the name only because its acronym, WCRF was used 13 years ago for the Windy City RailFest 2003 in Chicago.
2. Starlight RailFest (SRF or SLRF), named for the Coast Starlight, the principal train that connects the 3 western cities. Precedent here was the Eagle RailFest 2005, named for the Texas Eagle.
3. Western Train Fest - Ah, that sounds great, as long as you can get past the acronym WTF. When used as WTF 2016 how bad could it be?
4. Western RailFest again would use an acronym WRF previously applied to another trip, this one Washington RailFest 2005.
5. We could also make use of the closest ocean, with a name such as Pacific RailFest (PRF) or Pacific Coast RailFest (PCRF).
