BELLEVUE, Ohio — Half a century ago, Nickel Plate Road steam engine 757 was an old relic without a home.

The Norfolk & Western Railway merged the Nickel Plate into its system in 1964. The company wanted to donate several of its legendary Berkshire locomotives — built during the 1940s at Lima Locomotive Works — to key cities along the line.
