Metro To Test Next-Generation Passenger Screening System at Los Angeles Union Station
WHAT:
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), in partnership with the Transportation Security Administration and Evolv Technology, will test a next-generation weapons and explosives screening system on the Metro Red Line at Union Station. The portable system can scan 600 people per hour in real time, and will automatically detect a variety of mass casualty threats. Officials will be on-hand to demonstrate the system as part of Metro’s pilot project to evaluate the latest, most high-tech security technology for the Metro System.

VISUALS:
Security screening system will be set up at the entrance of the Red Line Station. As transit riders walk through the system, screeners will check them for potential threats. Transit rider participation in the security scan is voluntary.
