CSXT Service Update: 9/22/03, Isabel Recovery Options

CSXT reopened all rail lines in the path of last week¹s Hurricane Isabel Monday, Sept. 22, with the exception of the subdivision from Garysburg, NC, to Portsmouth, VA. Service to that area is expected to be restored later in the day on Sept. 22. Local commercial power outages continue to slow operations because of concerns about grade-crossing protection. CSXT has placed hundreds of portable generators in North Carolina and Virginia to power highway crossing gates and flashers.

CSXT will continue to move freight traffic backlogged by the storm, while working to keep current traffic on schedule. Some reroutes will continue for the next few days as the effects of the storm are resolved.
