As a life-long Floridian, the weather for the upcoming fest is of concern to me.  Everything I have seen makes me believe that the current awful arctic blast will be gone.

I own 2 winter coats and 2 pairs of boots.  I am trying to decide between practical vs. comfortable and cute for the boots and between heavy vs. easy to schlep for the coats.

According to The weather channel dot com, today, the forecast for NYC is as follows:

Friday:  52H/3843L, rain, 70%  90% chance of precipitation

Saturday:  4147H/30L, AM showers, 50% chance of precipitation

Sunday:  3736H/2321L, Mostly sunny, 10 20% chance of precipitation

Monday:  3531H/2423L, Mostly sunny, 10% chance of precipitation

Keep in mind too that right this moment we have a snow cover and near record low temperatures.  The weather is expected moderate during the week, but it may not be enough to melt all the snow before next weekend.  So even if it's a relatively mild day in the 40's, there still could be melting snow, slush, puddles, etc.  to contend with when crossing streets.  The upside to this is that Long Island and the Jersey Shore area where I live got more snow, but we don't expect during this Fest to be heading to those areas. The snow was worse the further east one went.... maybe New Rochelle got it worse than NYC.

Temperature wise, there is no good way to dress for riding elevated subways in the Bronx.  The trains are heated, but they make frequent outdoor stops with the doors opening every couple of minutes. Again it won't be as cold as it is right now, so we should be OK.

What I heard for a 7-day forecast on TV as of late Friday evening mirrors what Penny said above --- 50's on Friday with chance of rain, and 40's on Saturday. Sunday was not yet in scope of 7 days.

Latest weather for NYC I just saw on TV said that between Friday and Saturday there could be total 1-1/2 to 2 inches of RAIN, which might be annoying but will have impact on the snow pack.  Even if not raining heavily when we are outside, it could be sloppy walking around. The rain should be over by midday Saturday, so the main concern is the walk in lower Manhattan; there should not be precipitation by the time we get to New Rochelle.

Now that Sunday is in scope, it looks like it will be colder than Friday & Saturday, high around 30-32, no precipitation.

Caution:   The predicted high for Saturday will happen after midnight Friday night.  So it will get colder throughout Saturday, ending up well below freezing by sometime Saturday night.   Sunday (and Monday) should now be noticeably colder than Friday and very early Saturday.
