Sunday was our tour of Bronx subways.  As planned, we rode the 1, 2, 4, and 6 subway lines to their northern endpoints and back.  We had a total of nine people involved today, and just like Saturday, people came and went along the way as they needed.   Steve and Dick decided to sit the day out.

We started at the Penn Station meeting point near the Long Island Railroad.  Like Saturday, the day commenced with half a dozen people.  Boarding the 1 train at 34th Street/Penn Station were Penny, Dave, Don, Maurice, Alan, and me.  In another car of the same train, Stephen and Chris boarded at 59th Street, bringing us up to 8.  At 242nd Street/Van Cortlandt Park, we crossed the platform to a waiting train that would depart next, and returned to 96th Street for our transfer to the 2.   At this station, Ted met us, which brought us to our peak for the day of nine.  Together we rode up to the end of the 2 line at Wakefield/241st Street, where we remained on the same equipment for the return trip.

We rode the 2 to 149th Street/Grand Concourse, and there after walking through the transfer concourse to the 4 line, we ran into a bit of a snafu.  Because of trackwork on the 4 line, only one platform was being used. An errant conductor opened the doors of his train on another platform that was closed, thus causing the discharged passengers to take down the tape that had been placed across the stairways to block access. This then caused more people to get on the wrong platform for the Woodlawn-bound 4 train. After we figured things out and accessed the correct and crowded platform, we boarded the next 4 to Woodlawn.  Then we returned down to 125th Street for our lunch break.  We split up to various places, with the biggest contingent going to IHOP.

Reconvening an hour later by meeting back in the subway station, we were all together for a short while.  However we lost Dave and Don, who decided to return south towards Grand Central Terminal.  The remaining 7 people went north on the 6 line up to its terminus at Pelham Bay Park. We then returned south on the same equipment back downtown, and with the Fest winding down, more participants began to leave us.  Alan got off the 6 train at 59th Street, followed by Chris at 51st Street. That left 5 of us who detrained at 42nd Street/Grand Central, and who walked to the S Shuttle train which took us to Times Square.  At 42nd Street/Times Square, Ted left us.  The remaining four (Penny, Maurice, Stephen, and I) caught a 1 train one stop to 34th Street/Penn Station, where the Fest officially ended as we went our separate ways.

Sunday was our second and final successful Fest day, and we can now look forward to the summer when we meet yet again.
