Continue.3 northern Illinois men busted for allegedly trying to steal 600-pound railroad rail
MOUNT PLEASANT — Some people will steal anything that’s not nailed down, even if it weighs about 600 pounds.
Call it a sign of the times, but Mount Pleasant police ticketed three men from northern Illinois on Monday after they allegedly were caught stealing a section of metal railroad rail.
One officer was flagged down at approximately 3:07 p.m. Monday at about the same time police dispatchers received a call reporting that a group of people were stealing railroad materials from the area north of Durand Avenue on Sheridan Road, Police Chief Tim Zarzecki said Tuesday.
Theft of metal and metal scrap isn’t new.
