NASHUA — City officials are exploring the possibility of having a Nashua Transit bus provide a route to the Lowell, Mass., train station, hoping that strong ridership may set the stage for commuter rail in southern New Hampshire.

Anti-commuter rail editorial

Toy trains: Playing with commuter rail

Two years ago, we suggested in this space that the state’s costly commuter rail “study” would recommend adopting commuter rail not because it is cost-effective, but because the study would be designed to reach that conclusion. Someone give us a cookie.

Bartlett Center: N.H. commuter rail service alone 'does not create jobs'

A commuter rail connecting Boston to Manchester probably wouldn’t create jobs on its own, according to a study released yesterday by the Josiah Bartlett Center for Public Policy.

The conservative-leaning center’s report flouted the notion that commuter rail is a tool to spur job creation and instead found that passenger rail can influence growth where already planned investments will happen.

N.H. Senate committee rejects $4 million for commuter rail study

A push to extend commuter rail from Boston into New Hampshire hit a snag yesterday when a state Senate committee rejected plans to spend $4 million to study the expansion.

Good ole New Hampshire; penny wise and pound foolish. :(
