Severe Winter Weather Causes Service Changes

March 13, 2023 9:00 PM

 

For the safety of our customers and employees, severe winter weather in the Northeast has prompted Amtrak to implement several service changes and cancellations. No substitute transportation is available on these routes.

 

Tues., March 14:

 

The following trains are cancelled between Boston & New York only:


• Northeast Regional (operating between Boston & Washington, D.C): 173,137
• Northeast Regional (operating between Boston & points south of Washington, D.C) 86,174
• Acela (operating between Washington, D.C. & Boston): 2165, 2167, 2169, 2160, 2164, 2168

 

The following trains are cancelled between Albany & Boston only:


• Lake Shore Limited (operating between Chicago & New York): 448, 449
         o 449, scheduled to depart Boston on 3/14, will now originate at Albany
         o 448, which departed Boston on 3/13, will terminate at Albany on 3/14

 

The following train is cancelled entirely:


• Downeaster (operating between Brunswick, Maine & Boston): 688/689

 

Wed., March 15:

 

The following train is cancelled entirely:
• Downeaster (operating between Brunswick, Maine & Boston): 680/681

 

Customers with reservations on trains that are being modified will typically be accommodated on trains with similar departure times or another day.

 

Amtrak will waive additional charges for customers looking to change their reservation during the modified schedule by calling our reservation center

at 1-800-USA-RAIL.
