Please vote only if you are planning to attend the Fest!! Thank you.

Some have indicated desire to ride HBLRT's newest section between Hoboken Terminal and Weehawken/Lincoln Harbor. This would replace going to Newark Airport to ride the AirTrain Newark monorail.

Costs:

HBLRT $3 round trip officially, although it can easily be done in under half an hour for one $1.50 fare (ticket good for 90 minutes). If we did this we would also continue on the older part down to Exchange Place, where we would transfer to the PATH train for Newark.

AirTrain Newark is $5 each way through the faregates located at the Rail Link terminal, or a total of $10.

Costs are shown as a convenience; if the majority wishes to do AirTrain Newark, then we certainly will do so. AirTrain fares are built into NJ TRANSIT fares, so it would be combined with the fare down to Bay Head on the North Jersey Coast Line, the next leg of the Fest.

If the majority chooses HBLRT, then the itinerary (which now reflects AirTrain Newark) will be altered accordingly.

Results of this poll will not influence our decision to do AirTrain JFK on Saturday, which also costs a total of $10 per person.

So far with five votes, it is 4-1 in favor of HBLRT. I devised an alternate itinerary in the event this sticks and we go HBLRT instead of AirTrain Newark. Besides riding the HBLRT, we would get a little extra bonus. When we get back to Hoboken Terminal, there will be a North Jersey Coast Line (NJCL) train waiting for us. One of only a handful of weekend Hoboken diesel express trains on the NJCL just happens to depart Hoboken at 9:38 AM. This would eliminate having to take another HBLRT train, PATH, the tranfer to the NJCL at Newark, and changing trains in Long Branch. This diesel train will go directly from Hoboken to Bay Head. Waterfront Connection trackage might be new to some of you. B) In order to be sure we make this train, if anyone wishes to ride Nick's elevator at 9th Street/Congress Street, you will have to leave Hoboken Terminal 15 minutes earlier than the rest of us. If the current majority holds, this itinerary will replace the previous one. Note that I have not yet tinkered with Saturday's events pending the results of Poll #2.

Don't be hating my elevator, Kevin. :D But seriously, folks, it's not worth getting up earlier to ride the 9th Street elevator. You can't see out of the car while it's ascending/descending and the view from the top of the cliff is nothing special. Probably the most exciting thing up there is my friend's artwork that sits above the elevator doors. For the uninitiated, Kevin refers to this as "Nick's elevator" because I held off on riding the new HBLR extension until the elevator was in service. The vertical ride was kind of a letdown.
