BLET News Flash, 12/17:

BLET members ratify contract with CSXT

CLEVELAND, December 17 — By a ratio of better than 2-to-1, members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen ratified a new collective bargaining agreement with CSX Transportation, Inc. (CSXT).

Ballots were counted on December 15, 2014, and the agreement governs rates of pay and work rules for more than 4,800 locomotive engineers. Health and welfare benefits for CSXT locomotive engineers will be bargained nationally starting early in 2015.

BLET National President thanked all members of the negotiating team, including Vice President Gil Gore and General Chairmen Gary Best, CSXT-Eastern Lines, Jim Louis, CSXT-Northern District, Bill Lyons, CSXT-Northern Lines, and Matt Thornton, CSXT-Western Lines. He also thanked Mobilization Coordinator Larry James for leading the BLET’s get-out-the-vote campaign during the balloting process.

"These Brothers deserve thanks for their hard work in securing this contract," President Pierce said. "But more importantly, I thank the members who took the time to vote. Union membership is not a spectator sport and participating in the balloting process on new contract agreements is one of the most important things any union member can do to make our Brotherhood stronger."
