St. Petersburg, Russia, subway blast kills 10, injures 50

 

 

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (AP) — At least 10 people were killed and 50 others injured Monday when an explosion ripped through a subway train in St. Petersburg, the spokesman for the city’s governor told Russian television.

 

President Vladimir Putin, who was visiting the city on an unrelated trip Monday, said investigators were looking into whether the explosion was a terror attack or if there might have been some other cause. He offered his condolences to the families of those killed.

 

Russia’s National Anti-Terrorist Committee said an unidentified explosive device went off on a train that was traveling between two stations.  .  .  .

The Latest: More arrests made in Russia subway train attack

 

 

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (AP) -- The Latest on the bombing of the St. Petersburg subway in Russia (all times local):

 

8:15 p.m.

 

Russia's top investigative body says more people have been arrested in connection with the suicide bombing of a subway train in St. Petersburg that killed 13 passengers.

 

The Investigative Committee said in a statement that six people were arrested Thursday in St. Petersburg and two in Moscow. The committee didn't provide details on how the suspects may have been connected to Monday's bombing.
