Very good news, too bad there is not 'surge' capability for Thanksgiving:

"Amtrak representatives said ticket sales are robust. Some days around Thanksgiving are already sold out."

Roanoke, VA Times editorial, 10/29/17:

Editorial: The politics of Amtrak

On Tuesday, an Amtrak train will pull out of Roanoke for the first time since 1979. This is a landmark day, and the number of people we have to thank for restoring rail passenger service to Roanoke would more than fill the 494 seats available on the train.

To understand how Roanoke got Amtrak back in 2017, we have to rewind the clock to 1959, a time so far ago that Norfolk & Western was still running four passenger trains a day through Roanoke — two north-south, two east-west.
