A double-track, 1,632 mile purpose-built railway would be built from Canada to Delta Junction, Alaska capable of transporting over 4 million bpd of oil products at a total estimated cost of $10.4 billion.

A reasonable price with a fairly quick payback, IMHO. :)

Similar proposals have been made every so often since the early 1990s. Nothing ever seems to come of them. I wouldn't hold my breath for any BC - AK or AK-to-the-rest-of-North-America rail links anytime soon. This is probably nothing more than a Power Point presentation sitting around on someone's computer in a local DOT.

Over 20500 miles aboard Amtrak.
