When the Lynx Blue Line extension opens at 10 a.m. Friday commuters will get a little break: Light-rail trains will operate every 8 minutes during rush hour, as opposed to every 10 minutes today.

At Last, It's Boarding Time For CATS Blue Line Extension
At long last, opening day is near for the $1.2 billion CATS Blue Line Extension. After ceremonies Friday morning, the light rail line from uptown to UNC Charlotte is scheduled to open to the public at 10 a.m.

Long-awaited LYNX Blue Line extension opens Friday
The Blue Line Extension opens Friday morning, but Channel 9 got a chance to ride the 10 miles from uptown to UNC Charlotte before the grand opening.

Lynx Blue Line extension trains to run more frequently
The Lynx Blue Line extension is set to open Friday and the light rail trains will run every 8 minutes during rush hour instead of 10 the way they do now.
