The Register Star, Hudson, NY 7/7:

Amtrak train delayed by wheel fires

HUDSON – An Amtrak train arrived at the city’s train station Monday afternoon with its undercarriage on fire.

Hudson firefighters were called to the Hudson Amtrak station at 69 S. Front St. at around 4:40 p.m. Monday to a report of smoke coming from the wheel areas of an Amtrak train that had just arrived at the station. The train had multiple fires in its undercarriage

With Viewliners obviously the eastbound Lake Shore Limited.  Hudson is not one of its normal stops, and it was probably one of the worst places on the Empire Corridor for this to happen, given Hudson is a one-track station and thus normally a choke point.  The wheel wells picking up dead leaves is something one would expect to be more apt to happen in the Fall.
