Christie to decide if oil train information will be made public

 

 

A bill that requires rail companies transporting volatile crude oil and other hazardous liquids through New Jersey to file detailed emergency response plans with state officials is headed to Gov. Chris Christie's desk.

 

The measure, which had been stalled in the legislature for more than a year, also requires state officials to share the emergency plans with county and municipal first responders along rail routes like the 11 Bergen County towns where millions of gallons of oil pass through every week. The bill is supported by labor groups and firefighters.
