Those making plans for Papal Visit travel may want to consider the PopeBus.com service available from RYDE, a long-distance transportation service SEPTA has partnered with to provide additional Papal Visit travel options.

PopeBus.com will utilize school buses to pick people up at 52 designated park-and-ride locations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware, and deliver them to seven selected outlying Regional Rail stations for travel to Papal Visit events in Center City. PopeBus.com bus fares range from $15 to $49 round-trip depending on location. PopeBus.com has SEPTA One Day Regional Rail Papal Visit Passes available for an additional $10 for those who need them. In addition, those who have already purchased passes may want to consider using PopeBus.com's service for travel to-and-from outlying Regional Rail stations, where parking will be limited. No delays this morning, and few passengers as well. SEPTA running smoothly. Some PATCO trains running nearly empty. PATCO's free parking lots still have room, much to the chagrin of area private lots that were charging $20 a car.

PATCO and SEPTA have both cut back service. PATCO went from providing a dedicated express train from each of the four open New Jersey stations every 16 minutes to providing a train every 10 minutes that makes all NJ stops. SEPTA has similarly decreased train frequency. The expected crush loads have not materialized.
