MTA Operating Regular Weekday Service Monday
February 01st, 2015
ginsnowstormjuno012615.jpg?itok=mEY6Jewz

The MTA network will operate a regular weekday schedule for Monday, February 2nd, 2015. MTA Long Island Railroad, MTA Metro-North Railroad, MTA NYC Transit Bus, MTA NYC Subway -- including Staten Island Railway (SIR) -- MTA Bus and Access-a-Ride will provide the normal complement of rush hour service. All nine MTA Bridge & Tunnel facilities will be open to traffic. Due to the forecast for inclement weather, there may be delays in service.

In preparation of this approaching winter storm, steps have been taken across the MTA network to . These steps include positioning snow and ice fighting equipment across the rail network to operate overnight to keep rails free of snow. Extra crews have been scheduled to keep platforms and stairs free of snow and ice, and chains are being placed on NYC Transit and MTA Bus equipment for added traction. LIRR station waiting rooms will remain open around-the-clock now through Monday afternoon to provide shelter for customers waiting for trains during cold and inclement weather. MTA Bridges and Tunnels will deploy its winter weather fleet of 91 conveyors, pay loaders, front loaders and pick-up trucks with plows to clear snow, along with more than 9,800 tons of anti-corrosive de-icer.

Because of the possibility of this being a severe winter storm, NYC Transit has canceled all subway service changes due to planned work for maintenance and upgrades scheduled for midday Monday as well as overnight Monday into Tuesday.  If subway trains have to be stored on express tracks after the evening rush hour on Monday, some service will be impacted. Access-a-Ride customers who do not have to travel Monday should consider rescheduling their trips.

Customers are urged to stay safe and to be prepared for delays due to inclement weather. Any customer planning to travel Monday should provide for additional travel time, monitor Service Status, and local news reports for additional information as this storm approaches.
