Veronews,   Vero Beach, FL, 11/9/23;

   To no one’s surprise, Vero out of mix for a Brightline station

While Brightline has stirred up some excitement in St. Lucie and Martin counties with its plans to pick one as the site of a new Treasure Coast rail station, exclusion of Vero Beach from the RFP process for the new high-speed train stop comes as little surprise here.

The Battle For A Treasure Coast Brightline Station Kicks Up A Notch

The City of Stuart has finalized its proposal to get a Brightline train station.

The city commission approved a plan to put one in the downtown area. Mayor Troy McDonald tells CBS 12 News that the location makes sense because the train already runs through the area on its way between Miami and Orlando.

“The train is coming through every day. We might as well get benefit from it. If the train does not stop, we get zero benefit.”

Signs Point To Fort Pierce But Brightline Says No Decision Yet

Brightline says no decision has been made as to where a Treasure Coast train station will be built. This as banners reading "Brightline, your next step is Fort Pierce" are popping up.

Fort Pierce is vying for a station, but so is Stuart, with the city commission this week approving its proposal to have a station in the downtown area. Fort Pierce is looking at an old depot behind the Sunrise Theater.

New Proposal For Treasure Coast Brightline Station In Fort Pierce

Friday is the deadline for cities along the Treasure Coast to submit their proposals to Brightline for a future train station.

Stuart and Fort Pierce have been finalizing their proposals and now a developer is throwing its hat in the ring.

Audubon Development built the King's Landing residential, dining and shopping community in Fort Pierce. It would give the high-speed rail line two choices to locate a station in the city.

Column in Treasure Coast Palm, Port St. Lucie, FL, 12/29/23:

   Could Treasure Coast get commuter rail, more inter-city service? Not with our attitude.

A few days ago, my colleague Larry Reisman wrote a column about how nice it would be to have a commuter train service connecting Vero Beach, Fort Pierce and Stuart. I don't disagree.
