THE truck driver in the Kerang disaster hit the brakes about 20 metres before he slammed into a passenger train on Tuesday, killing 11 people.

Skid marks show Christiaan Scholl, 44, of Wangaratta, braked only seconds before the collision, and tried to steer the truck to the left to avoid the train.

The full story, along with pictures, can be found at the Sydney Morning Herald.
Alan,

Take care and take trains!
