Service Alert: Silver Star, Silver Meteor - Revised Service Between Miami and New York

August 25, 2005 11:00 a.m.

Due to the projected path of Tropical Storm Katrina and potential railroad closures because of the storm, Amtrak is implementing a revised service plan for its Silver Service trains that operate between New York and Miami.

Southbound trains #91 (Silver Star) and #97 (Silver Meteor) that departed New York on Wednesday August 24 will terminate in Orlando instead of Miami. Alternate transportation will be offered for passengers bound for destinations south of Orlando.

Southbound trains #91 (Silver Star) and #97 (Silver Meteor) that depart New York on Thursday August 25 will terminate in Orlando instead of Miami. No alternate transportation will be offered for passengers bound for destinations south of Orlando.

Northbound trains #92 (Silver Star) and #98 (Silver Meteor) originally scheduled to originate in Miami on Friday August 26, will instead originate in Orlando. No alternate transportation will be provided between Miami and Orlando.

As the storm gets closer to landfall, further schedule adjustments may be made.

Amtrak reservation agents are contacting passengers regarding the schedule adjustments. Passengers can also call 1-800-USA-RAIL for assistance with their travel plans.
