SFRTA MONITORING HURRICANE DORIAN

Tri-Rail will run its regular weekend schedule tomorrow, Saturday, August 31, 2019. Senior level management from the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority/Tri-Rail are watching Hurricane Dorian’s path carefully and will immediately advise of any changes in train service beyond Saturday.

Once sustained winds reach 39 miles per hour, it becomes necessary to suspend service in order to secure the crossing gates. Once the crossing gates are removed, Tri-Rail cannot operate. This procedure takes a minimum of 12 hours, depending on the weather circumstances personnel faces, so the decision has to be made in advance of these weather conditions. SFRTA may determine to start the removal of gates when constant wind gusts of over 30 miles per hour are anticipated, as serious damage can be experienced on the corridor.

Passengers are encouraged call 1-800-TRI-RAIL (874-7245), check the website at www.tri-rail.com, or follow Tri-Rail’s Facebook or Twitter pages for updates about service.
