Amtrak Modifies Service in the Northeast Due to Winter Storm

Amtrak will operate a modified service in the Northeast on Monday, February 1, 2021, due to inclement weather to include:

• Northeast Regional (Boston – New York – Washington, DC - Virginia) will operate on a limited schedule


• Keystone Service (Harrisburg – Philadelphia – New York) will operate on a limited schedule


• Empire Service (New York – Albany) will operate on a modified schedule


• All Acela (Boston – Washington, DC) service is canceled


• The Pennsylvanian (Pittsburgh – New York) is canceled

Here is what you can do to stay informed:

• Call 1-800-USA-RAIL if your trip has been impacted and change or cancelation fees will be waived


• Visit Amtrak.com or download the Amtrak app for the latest information on train status


• Subscribe to delay alerts for any train via email or text message at Amtrak.com/DelayAlerts

Same storm did damage out west in California.  From KSBY-TV, Channel 6 in San Luis Obispo, CA, 1/30/21:

 

 

   Amtrak trains from San Luis Obispo to Santa Barbara temporarily unavailable due to storm damage on tracks    

 

 

 

Amtrak train services from San Luis Obispo to Santa Barbara and vice versa have been suspended due to damage caused by recent storms.

This would affect the Coast Starlight too on the days of the week it operates.

More specific info for the Northeast:

 

 

Due to severe winter weather, Empire Service Trains 234, 280, 238, 233, 291, and 239 that are scheduled to operate on 2/1 are cancelled.

 

 

Due to severe winter weather, Trains 125, 141 , 95, 171, 137, 179, 193, and 67 that are scheduled to operate on 2/1 are cancelled. No alternate transportation will be provided.

 

 

Due to severe winter weather, Train 87 that is scheduled to operate today, 1/31, will terminate in Washington (WAS). No alternate transportation will be provided

 

 

Due to severe winter weather, Vermonter Train 55 that is scheduled to operate on 2/1 is cancelled. No alternate transportation will be provided.

 

 

Due to severe winter weather, Keystone Trains 601, 641, 645, 651, 653, 640, 646, 650, 652, and 620 that are scheduled to operate on 2/1 are canceled.

 

 

Due to impending snowstorm Train 66 will terminate in Washington (WAS). There will be no alternate transportation between WAS and Boston (BOS).

Amtrak Modified Service Continues in the Northeast Due to Winter Storm

Beginning at 3 p.m. ET on Monday, Feb. 1, all Amtrak service between New York (NYP) and Boston (BOS) and New York (NYP) and Albany, N.Y. (ALB). will be suspended due to the Metro-North railroad closure.

 

Amtrak will continue operating modified service on select routes in the Northeast on Tuesday, Feb. 2 due to inclement weather, including:

• Acela Service (Boston – New York - Washington, DC)

• Northeast Regional Service (Boston – New York – Washington, DC - Virginia)

    Amtrak restores train service on Central Coast  

 

 

Amtrak train service is restored north of Goleta, after being temporarily suspended due to damage to the tracks which was caused by last week's storm.

    Amtrak's Keystone Service Route will be modified Wednesday due to inclement weather  

 

 

 

Due to the aftermath of a winter storm affecting much of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, Amtrak said it will continue operating modified service on Wednesday.
