Use this thread to report on all travel before we meet in Chicago on Monday, July 11th. This includes all Amtrak travel before that time east of Chicago.

I, together with Dick, Chris and Jishnu, are on the Silver Meteor heading north to WAS and NYP.  Dick was already on board when 3 of us boarded in Orlando.  Shortly after boarding, we had a very nice lunch in the 8400 diner.

 

Dick and I are in one car, Jishnu is in another and Chris is in another.

I flew Southwest from New Orleans (MSY) to Orlando early this morning. I had some time to kill I so hung out in one of the airport lounges for a couple hours. Had some breakfast and a shower, then got on the 11 Lynx bus to downtown. I walked over to the station and a few minutes later Penny arrived. After that Jis arrived. The Silver Meteor arrived a few minutes early and we all boarded and went right to lunch. Now running about 47 minutes late at Palatka.

After final packing, I left home half an hour after I would have liked to leave, which gave me no leeway in the event of traffic.  I got to Cherry Hill about 10 minutes before the 3:50 PM NJT train to Philadelphia. I made it, and so did the train albeit a few minutes late.  This gave me time to go downtown and get matzoball soup from the deli in Reading Terminal Market, which I brought back to consume in 30th Street Station along with Pizza Hut. Dealt with SEPTA's lack of equipment problems as the Airport trains are cancelled thus fewer trains running through the tunnel.   Now back in the Club Acela awaiting Regional 159 to Wilmington, my first hotel stop of the trip and where I will hopefully board the Cardinal tomorrow.

98 arrived into WAS only 18 minutes late after being almost 1.5 hours late. All 4 of us had time to meet for breakfast in the 8400 diner. Once in WAS, 3 of us got off and are waiting in ClubAcela. 1 stayed on 98 all the way to NY. So far 51 is on time.

My "Cardinal" friends just left me and I am waiting in the Club Acela for my "Maryland" sister to meet me for lunch in DC before boarding the Capitol Limited taking me to Chicago.  It is very quiet in the lounge.

3 of us on Cardinal. We get steadily later v at each station. After leg stretching stop at Charlottesville we left there 17 minutes late. Plenty of meat in Indy to make that up.

Now a 3-way race to Chicago between 51, 29, 49. Winner gets a better seat in new Chicago Metropolitan Lounge.

Left home at 5:35, got to the airport and through security at 6:10. Now on AA 550 heading to Chicago with landing estimated at 9:02 CDT.  The (pre) Festivities are underway.

Cardinal arrived into Chicago 10:46 AM, 41 minutes late. The COLD FEET express made it.
