I woke up and as is my habit took a look at status maps to determine just how bad bnsf was mistreating 5 and 6. I saw the service disruption. I called amtrak and the agent explained it was a freight derailment between Lincoln and Hastings. 5 and 6 are detouring around the derailment. The agent stated that 2 or 3 cars were on the ground. I asked about Saturdays 5 and so far so good. Though I assume the 6 that is detouring around this mess is the consist that will make up our train.

Just took a look at amtrak website track a train. It looks like 5 and 6 are moving around the location of the derailment. The icon for each train is significantly north if the normal route between Lincoln and Hastings.

This is information that I saw on train orders. I don't know how to link directly. Derailment 1 mile west of Crete. Both trains detoured on Giltner sub between Hastings and Aurora then Ravena sub in and out of Lincoln.

Additional info from status maps. The numbers representing 5 and 6 are back on the map. 5 is 6:44 late out of Hastings. 6 is 5:11 late out of Lincoln. This will be ok by tomorrow IMHO.
