The grand opening ceremonies for the new Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension will take place at the Duarte/City of Hope Station with a street fair, live music, food trucks and a VIP luncheon at the renowned cancer hospital, transit and city officials reported.

New metro stations start rolling into town next month

 

 

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) announced that their expansion of the Metro Goldline Foothill Extension, encompassing six new stations with connections to Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, and Azusa, will open on March 5.

Here's a headline writer who doesn't know the difference between trains and stations.   If their Metro stations are rolling, I think they have a big problem.

Here's a headline writer who doesn't know the difference between trains and stations.   If their Metro stations are rolling, I think they have a big problem.

Novel way of building a station.... just roll it into town :P

The first passenger ride on the 11.5-mile Gold Line Foothill Extension went off with only a few glitches Wednesday, a preview of the public opening March 5 of the easternmost Metro Rail train in Southern California.

The 11.5-mile extension to Azusa opens on Saturday, March 5. The Gold Line to Pasadena currently ends at Sierra Madre Villa Station. Soon there will be six new stations: Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte/City of Hope, Irwindale, Azusa Downtown and APU/Citrus College, which is also adjacent to the Rosedale development.

Motorists and pedestrians reminded to “stop, look, listen” around Gold Line extension tracks


Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to always “Stop, Look and Listen” before crossing the train tracks along the alignment of the new Metro Gold Line Extension from Sierra Madre Villa to Azusa. The new 11.5-mile extension is Metro’s latest effort to ease traffic congestion and is set to open to the public on Saturday, March 5. In preparation for opening, Metro is now operating additional test trains while getting ready for opening day.
