Thanksgiving Holiday Service Plan

 

October 26, 2017

 

Attention Carload customers:

The Kansas City Southern Railway Company will reduce forces on November 23 and 24, 2017, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Service requests for our carload customers for these days should be emailed to Customer Solutions by 10:00 a.m. on November 3rd.

Although requests received are not a guarantee of service on these days, once all requests are received, the local operation will attempt to secure resources to perform service on the day requested. If no request is received, it will be understood that no service is needed.


For our Intermodal customers:

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, The Kansas City Southern Railway Company will have the following gate hours at each of our Intermodal facilities.

Dallas, TX (WIT)
Thursday, 11/23/17, Gates will close at 06:00
Friday, 11/24/17, Gates will re-open at 06:00
Saturday, 11/25/17, Normal hours

Jackson, MS
Thursday, 11/23/17, Gates will close at 06:00
Friday, 11/24/17, Gates will re-open at 06:00
Saturday, 11/25/17, Normal hours

Kansas City, MO (IFG)
Thursday, 11/23/17, Gates will close at 06:00
Friday, 11/24/17, Gates will re-open at 06:00
Saturday, 11/25/17, Normal hours

Laredo, TX
Thursday, 11/23/17, Gates will close at 06:00
Friday, 11/24/17, Gates will re-open at 06:00
Saturday, 11/25/17, Normal hours

Houston, TX (Kendelton)
Thursday, 11/23/17, Gates will close at 06:00
Friday, 11/24/17, Gates will re-open at 06:00

All interchange traffic has the possibility of being delayed 24-48 hours depending upon the interchange location.

Thanksgiving Holiday Operating Plan

To Our Customers,

 

Union Pacific plans to have modified operations during the Thanksgiving holiday — Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017, through Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017.

 

Between 7 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23 and 06:59 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, manifest trains will be held at origin. Trains en route will operate to destination. Intermodal and automotive networks will have reduced operations with selected annulments and consolidations depending on volumes. Some yard and local operations may be curtailed based on traffic levels and customer needs.

 

Major interchange locations will remain open. Mexican and Canadian interchange gateways will have normal operations Thursday, Nov. 23, through Saturday, Nov. 25. 

 

If your facility requires service during the holiday, please open a Service Issue on our website prior to close of business on Thursday, Nov. 16. You may also contact Customer Service at 1-800-272-8777 to have a Service Issue opened on your behalf and to learn more about the availability of service over the Thanksgiving holiday. 

 

This operating plan is subject to change in the event of a major service interruption or weather event.

2017 Thanksgiving Holiday Operations

 

Norfolk Southern will operate a normal road train schedule for the upcoming 2017 Thanksgiving holiday. Local and Yard trains will operate as governed by volumes and customer needs.   

 

Customers with critical shipments requiring service over the holiday period should contact their Operations & Service Support or Customer Services representative to confirm local service requirements.
